Students refer to themselves and their coaches as "Mister" or "Mom". Proper names are rarely used; In contrast, students and teachers use previous names and subjects, e.g. Mrs. or Brown or Miss Jones. This gives everyone in the class respect, regardless of age or belt rank.
Eye contact
Martial arts schools also teach children respect by teaching them how to speak. Children look for alternative ways to make eye contact with the person talking to them or when they are talking instead of looking away rather than paying attention.
